    Why publish openly with F1000Research?

Open peer review and open data are central to the F1000 publication model. All articles undergo post-publication open peer review and benefit from our Open Data Policy.

At F1000, we believe that transparency in the peer review process is a hallmark of quality and accountability, making it easier to know if others can trust the findings.

Meanwhile, open data enables validation of your research and a deeper understanding of the research findings. Plus, research suggests that opening your data can generate up to 25% more citations.

By publishing on F1000Research, you can avoid editorial bias and lengthy peer review processes that can result in sound research taking months or years to be published.

Our publishing model and post-publication open peer review make it possible to share your research with the world how and when you choose. The F1000 Editorial team checks all submitted articles for academic rigor but does not make decisions based on novelty.

By publishing your research openly, researchers, funders, policymakers, and the general public can discover your research and use it to make a difference.

You can reciprocally link your research and datasets to enable more people to find your work and publish new versions of your article to share new developments.

What’s more, articles passing peer review benefit from indexing in a range of leading databases, including Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar. This ensures others can find them through scholarly platforms and networks.

Transparency is at the core of how we publish, from submission to publication and peer review.

Once you submit your research and deposit your data, your article will be published with a status of ‘Awaiting peer review’. Our team will work with you to find suitable reviewers for your article and keep you updated as peer review progresses.

We know research doesn’t need to be packaged as a traditional research paper to be valuable. F1000Research offers a wide variety of peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed article types so you can get credit for all your work.

All our article types are fully citable, with unique digital object identifiers (DOIS). You choose whether to publish a single Research Article at the end of your project or publish multiple research objects throughout the research lifecycle.

Plus, you can share non-peer reviewed conference posters, policy documents, technical reports, and more.

F1000Research is fully compliant with open mandates and memorandums, including Plan-S, OSTP, and the NIH Data Management and Sharing policy. We know that adapting to new developments in the open research landscape can be challenging, so our Editorial team are available to support you throughout the publishing process.

We also offer a wide range of openly accessible resources to guide you through making your research and its underlying data open and Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR).
