Today (August 23rd) the world’s first dual language (English/Japanese) open research Gateway (the University of Tsukuba Gateway) is relaunching as the Japan Institutional Gateway (JIG). The Gateway was first established in 2020 to support the University of Tsukuba’s open research ambitions, allowing researchers across the university to publish at pace and with full transparency. Since its initial launch, the Gateway has seen papers published across disciplines from telecollaboration to Covid responses and the Japanese constitution, with a range of citations and indexing, including Scopus and PubMed.
All outputs will continue to be published using F1000’s trailblazing open research publishing model that combines the benefits of pre-printing (providing rapid publication with no editorial bias) with mechanisms to assure quality and transparency (invited and open peer review, archiving and indexing). All F1000 outputs are free to access and read. This publishing model is also used on the customised Platforms that F1000 provides for major global funders such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Wellcome, the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program and many others.
The Gateway is now open to submissions from Japanese research institutions who wish to participate in JIG’s affiliation program helping to accelerate the adoption of open research in Japan. Research in all subject areas can be published on the Gateway, and researchers in humanities and social sciences fields can choose to publish their articles in Japanese or English, showcasing their work in a Scopus-indexed, international Platform in the language that best befits their work. F1000 are currently seeking to grow the affiliation program, and we welcome expressions of interest from Japanese research institutions.

世界初の日本語にも対応したオープンリサーチ出版ゲートウェイ、
他の研究機関からの参加も可能に
本日（8月23日）、世界初の日本語にも対応したオープンリサーチ出版ゲートウェイ（筑波大学ゲートウェイ）が、Japan Institutional Gateway (JIG)としてリニューアルオープンしました。
筑波大学ゲートウェイは2020年に、筑波大学のオープンリサーチへの取り組みを支援し、筑波大学所属の研究者が迅速に十分な透明性をもって出版できるよう開設されました。以来、同ゲートウェイでは、テレコラボレーションから新型コロナウイルス対策、日本国憲法に関する様々な論文が分野を超えて出版され、ScopusやPubMedなどの書誌データベースに収録され引用されています。
今後もF1000は、プレプリントの利点（編集上のバイアスを排除した迅速な出版）と、品質と透明性を保証するメカニズム（招待制の公開査読、論文のバージョン管理、索引作成）を組み合わせた先駆的なオープンリサーチ出版モデルで、多様性のある研究成果を出版して参ります。F1000の出版物はすべて無料でアクセス、閲覧できます。この出版モデルは、ビル＆メリンダ・ゲイツ財団、ウェルカム・トラスト、欧州委員会のHorizon 2020プログラムなど、主要な世界的資金提供者のためにF1000が提供するカスタマイズされたプラットフォームでも採用されています。
JIGは、日本におけるオープンリサーチの普及を促進するため、日本の研究機関向けに「JIG Affiliate(提携)プログラム」を開始しました。あらゆる分野の研究成果をゲートウェイ上で発表でき、人文・社会科学分野の研究者は日本語または英語で論文を発表することが可能で、Scopusに索引された国際的なプラットフォームで研究成果を発表することができます。
