BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITIONS:
Richard Hardwick is Lead Clinician for Upper GI Cancer at the Cambridge Oesophago-gastric Centre and Consultant General Surgeon, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge

• Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons

Dr Hardwick was Chairman of the Audit and Clinical Services Committee of the Association of Upper GI Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland (AUGIS) from 2005-2008 and has recently taken on the Lead Investigators role for the National Oesophago-Gastric Cancer Audit, a three year audit project sponsored by The HealthCare Commission.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Hardwick is involved in a number of research projects in the UK and Europe, including investigations into quality of life after upper GI cancer surgery, molecular profiling of tumours of the gastro-oesophageal junction and non-endoscopic detection of dysplastic Barrett's mucosa and early oesophageal tumours.
