BIOGRAPHY
Jan Amlie is Professor in Cardiology at Oslo University. He also works in the Medical Outpatient Department at the Rikshospitalet.His research interests include cardiac electrophysiology and general cardiology. At present, Professor Amlie and his group are investigating genetics and cardiac electrophysiology in humans.
Professor Amlie was President of the Cardiology section of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) from 2002-2006, where he as responsible for harmonisation education and postgraduate training in cardiology in Europe. He was also President of the Norwegian Society of Cardiology from 1987 to 1991. He received the Gold Stethoscope Award from the Norwegian Society of Cardiology for his work.
