BIOGRAPHY
CURRENT POSITION:• President and Chief Executive Officer, Metabolon Inc (2002-present)
PRIOR PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
• President and Chief Executive Officer, Paradigm Genetics (1997-2002). Paradigm Genetics was a pioneering systems biology company in agricultural biotechnology. Our research focus was high through put knock in and knock outs in Arabidopsis followed by screening for 150 developmental phenotypes along with transcriptional profiling.
• Head of Agricultural Biotechnology Research, Novartis Agriculture (aka Ciba-Geigy) (1993-1997).
• Research Manager, Ciba-Geigy Agricultural Biotechnology (1985-1993). Research focus on the molecular biology of systemic acquired resistance and innate immunity in plants.
POST-DOCTORAL EXPERIENCE:
• Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Zurich, with Prof Charles Weissmann. Worked on Human Interferon gene expression (1982-1984)
EDUCATION:
• PhD Molecular Biology, University of Texas in Dallas, 1982
• MS Molecular Biololgy, University of Texas in Dallas 1980
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Presently, my personal research interest is in metabolmics and the application of global biochemical profiling towards a deeper understanding of biological systems. The development of an ontology of metabolism in different biological responses. Also, the continued development of the biotechnology industry.
