Jonathan Chernoff - F1000 Faculty Member (since 23 February 2005)
Molecular Oncology Program, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, PA, USA
BIOGRAPHY
The overall focus of my research is in uncovering the roles of protein phosphorylation in governing two fundamental aspects of cancer biology: altered cell proliferation and morphology. Towards those ends, we are studying the regulation and functions of small GTPases and their effector kinases, as well as a variety of protein phosphatases. Particular enzymes of interest currently include p21-activated kinases, Mammalian Ste20 like kinases, and various protein tyrosine phosphatases including PTP1B. Our experimental platforms range from biochemistry to cell biology to cancer genetics, employing yeast, fish, and murine systems.EVALUATIONS
