RESEARCH INTERESTS: The etiology of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis is still unknown. In Switzerland one out of thousand inhabitants are suffering from these diseases. Several factors contribute to these diseases, among them genetic alterations, a disturbed immune regulation and environmental factors play a crucial role. In our laboratory we focus on the disturbance of the immune response towards bacterial and yeast antigens. Furthermore, we are interested in genetic alterations in these patients.
