BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITIONS:
Reader in Cardiac Electrophysiology, National Heart & Lung Institute and Head of the Laboratory of Cellular Electrophysiology at the Harefield Heart Science Centre, Imperial College London

EDUCATION:
Graduated in Medicine at the Universita' La Sapienza of Roma, Italy, in 1989 and qualified in Cardiology in the same medical school in 1993. He obtained his PhD in Physiology in 1995 on 'Excitation-contraction coupling and intracellular acidosis in the heart' at the National Heart & Lung Institute, London.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Terracciano's main interest is the elecrophysiology of the diseased myocardium and the consequences of treatment on the contractile and electrical properties of the heart. His research fosuses in particular on the mechanisms of myocardial regeneration following mechanical devices or stem and gene therapy, and the cellular and molecular mechanisms of arrhythmias.
