BIOGRAPHY
Julene K Johnson, PhD is a cognitive neuroscientist and Assosciate Professor of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco's (UCSF) Memory and Aging Center. She received her PhD from the University of Texas (Dallas) and a Bachelors of Music from Southern Methodist University. She did her postdoctoral training with Dr. Carl Cotman at University of California, Irvine.Her research interests include cognitive and neuropathological studies of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Frontotemporal dementia (FTD), and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD). She is particularly interested in the frontal cortex and executive function, especially in the pre-clinical stages of dementia. She is currently studying a cohort of patients with MCI who present with executive dysfunction. She is also leading a California state consortium addressing diagnostic reliability and accuracy in non-Alzheimer disease dementias.
