Research interests:
His current research focus is aimed at the understanding of pathomechanisms involved in extra-osseous calcifications and cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). His research group identified the deficiency of fetuin-A, a circulating calcification inhibitor, as a uraemia- and inflammation-related risk predictor of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in patients on dialysis.
