Tara Russell - F1000 Associate Faculty Member (since 10 December 2008)

Department of Radiation Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, USA

BIOGRAPHY

Tara Russell is an Associate Faculty Member who works with Alphonse Taghian to evaluate the literature relevant to their research interests.

CURRENT POSITION:
Member of Lymphedema Studies Team, Department of Radiation Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital

QUALIFICATIONS:
BS, MPH, Radiation Oncology

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Tara Russell works with Alphonse Taghian to develop molecular and physiologic markers, which would predict the response of large breast cancer to chemotherapy. Why some palpable breast cancers respond to chemotherapy and others do not respond is still unclear. One of the reasons might be the drug does not reach the tumor cells. By studying the physiology of these tumors in vivo, we might understand the mechanisms of drug delivery. They are interested in studying the physiology of palpable breast cancer by measuring the pO2, blood flow and interstitial pressure of these tumors in patients.
