RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Locke applies epidemiologic and outcomes research techniques to questions regarding gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and functional gastrointestinal disorders. GERD, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), and dyspepsia are all quite common problems in society. Dr Locke studies why people develop these problems, why people seek care, and what processes of care provide the best outcomes. The focus is on the patient. Recently Dr Locke's research has identified that these problems run in families. Current work is trying to separate how much of this is nature versus nuture.
