Glenn Preminger

Dr. Preminger serves as a Consultant for: Mission Pharmacal, San Antonio, Texas, Olympus Surgical America, New York and Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachusetts

Research interests:
Dr Preminger has conducted research in various aspects of urology, including minimally invasive treatments for urologic diseases, urinary tract obstructions, enlarged prostate, and renal and ureteral stones. He also has examined the efficacy of drugs to treat nephrolithiasis, the effects of shock wave lithotripsy and the use of thermo-therapy (heat) to shrink enlarged prostates.

With Pei Zhong, Ph.D, Dr Preminger established The Lithotripsy Laboratory to study shock wave physics and tissue effects within the realms of SWL and intracorporeal lithotripsy. Drs Preminger and Zhong have received support from the NIH, the American Foundation for Urologic Disease and corporate sponsors.

Dr Preminger has published more than 250 manuscripts, 80 book chapters and 6 books, as well as 28 videotapes that review complex endoscopic techniques. He is a member of 15 professional societies and holds Editorial positions with the JOURNAL OF UROLOGY, UROLOGY, JOURNAL OF ENDOUROLOGY and UROLOGICAL RESEARCH. He is currently Chairman of the AUA Nephrolithiasis Guidelines Panel. In 2004, he was named Co-Chairman of the joint AUA/EAU International Nephrolithiasis Guidelines Panel and recently named the Chair of the AUA Office of Education.
