BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITION:
Assistant Professor, University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics

EDUCATION:
Rolf Stottmann received his BS and MS from the University of Maryland, College Park where he studied physiology and neurobiology. He received a PhD from the Duke University School of Medicine Department of Cell Biology in 2004 and pursued postdoctoral training with David Beier at the Brigham & Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. As a postdoctoral fellow, he applied the tools of forward genetics and ENU mutagenesis to study the genetic basis of forebrain development. He moved to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center in July of 2001 to begin his own laboratory group.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
The Stottman lab continues to use forward genetics to generate and characterize mouse models of human congenital defects with a focus on craniofacial and forebrain development.

F1000:
Rolf Stottmann joined Faculty of 1000 as an Associate Faculty Member working alongside David Beier in the Genomics & Genetics: Animal Genetics Section on 21st January 2009.

On 7th November 2011, following an invitation from Rudolf Jaenisch, Joseph Takahashi and Ian Jackson (Section Heads for the Animal Genetics Section), Rolf was appointed as a Faculty Member in the Animal Genetics Section.
