Robert Kuchta - F1000 Faculty Member (since 09 May 2007)
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Colorado, Boulder, CO, USA
BIOGRAPHY
Currently on SabbaticalACADEMIC POSITION:
Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, University of Colorado
EDUCATION:
PhD Brandeis University, 1986
Postdoctoral Fellow, Pennsylvania State University, 1986-88
AWARDS:
American Cancer Society Junior Faculty Research Award, 1991-1994
National Research Service Award, 1987
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Professor Kuchta's group is primarily interested in the broad area of mechanistic enzymology. Their studies are directed towards understanding enzymic catalysis at the level of individual steps in the reaction pathway. To accomplish this, a variety of steady-state and pre-steady-state kinetic techniques, protein modification reagents, and inhibitors are employed. We are primarily focusing on enzymes involved in
DNA replication from a variety of sources, including humans, herpes and bacteria.
