BIOGRAPHY

Stephen Marx is Chief of the Genetics & Endocrinology Section in the Metabolic Diseases Branch of the NIDDK.
Professor Marx's research interests focus on the genetics of hyperparathyroidism. His group has played a major role in discovering the main gene for four of six known hyperparathyroid syndromes and his clinical interests relate to the expression and management of these syndromes. In particular, his laboratory is researching, as part of a large NIH campus collaboration, the mechanism of action of the MEN1 gene.
Professor Marx's society memberships include the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians with extensive roles in the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research & in the Endocrine Society.
