Research interests:
Dr Beales' key research interests span both applied laboratory and clinical aspects of gastroenterology including the pathophysiological effects of peptide hormones on gastrointestinal cancers and inflammation, particularly Barrett's oesophagus and oesophageal adenocarcinoma and colon cancer. He has an active research programme on clinical management and novel therapeutics of gastrointestinal bleeding (both acute and chronic), inflammatory bowel diseases, Barrett's oesophagus and psychological aspects of irritable bowel syndrome.
