BIOGRAPHY
FACULTY OF 1000:Dr Janssen joined Faculty of 1000 as a Faculty Member for the Epidemiology Section (in the Public Health & Epidemiology Faculty) in December 2009.
On July 2011, following an invitation from Michael Farthing and Mario Strazzabosco (Heads of the Gastroenterology & Hepatology Faculty), Dr Janssen was appointed as a Section Head for the Viral Hepatitis Section.
ACADEMIC POSITION:
In 2006 he was appointed as Professor of Hepatology and Head of the Liver Unit in Erasmus MC, Rotterdam.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
As principal investigator Professor Janssen coordinated numerous European and global multicenter studies on antiviral treatment for chronic viral hepatitis. Professor Janssen is chairman of the Dutch Association of Hepatology and was elected as Rising Star in Gastroenterology and Hepatology by the Association of the National European Societies of Gastroenterology. He has been a member of the editorial board of Hepatology, Journal of Hepatology and Best Practice in Gastroenterology. He has published over 250 original peer-reviewed papers. In addition to his longstanding expertise in antiviral therapy of chronic viral hepatitis, Professor Janssen is a leading scientist in the field of vascular disorders of the liver.
