1992-1994 Implementation of the thesis in the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Medicine Mannheim of the University of Heidelberg. Graduated summa cum laude
June 2004 Habilitation in anesthesiology with the thesis 'Studies on the measurement of effective pulmonary capillary blood flow by partial CO2 rebreathing from the laboratory to the development and clinical testing of a bedside monitor'
June 2005 Awarded the venia legendi for Anesthesiology

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Our group is primarily concerned with the development and evaluation of innovative forms of ventilation, especially in the treatment of acute lung injury (ALI/ARDS).
Another focus is on the engineering development of innovative tools for the diagnosis and modeling of the respiratory system.
