I am interested in many aspects of biology and life sciences in general, as well as being a dedicated advocate of Open Access for scientific publications.
I started my career by focusing on MHC class I molecules (mostly immunogenetics and neuroimmunology), and later also became interested in cellular immunology, and more specifically Trogocytosis, which we discovered with Denis Hudrisier.
More recently, I have become interested in membrane biophysics, with the idea that functional membrane microdomains correspond to areas of transition towards a solid/gel/crystaline state.
My latest interest has been in the origin of species, which I believe is mostly driven by advantageous recessive mutations. Hence, whilst evolution towards greater complexity would be driven by the acquisition of new functions, speciation would be driven the need to lose certain functions (and particularly the susceptibility to pathogens or predators)
