ACADEMIC POSITIONS: Director of the Division of Nephrology, Hypertension and Renal Transplantation

Professor of Nephrology at the Postgraduate Schools of Nephrology, Universities of Palermo, Messina and Catania Sicily, Italy
PUBLISHING ACTIVITIES:
He has contributed over 500 publications to the scientific literature, including 258 papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Chief Editor of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation-Educational and Subject Editor (hypertension) of Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, he holds editorial positions on several national and international journals including J Am Soc Nephrology and Kidney International. He was Associate Editor of the American Journal of Kidney Diseases (2004-2006) and Deputy Chief Editor of Journal of Nephrology (2000-2006).
SOCIETY POSITIONS:
Dr Zoccali is President of the Italian Society of Nephrology and Chairman of the European Renal Association European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) Registry of Dialysis and Transplantation. He is also a member of 10 national and international societies of Nephrology and Hypertension.
AWARDS:
He received international awards from the American Kidney Foundation and the Borelli Foundation.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Zoccali's research interests cover hypertension, cardiovascular complications in chronic renal failure, renal disease progression and the epidemiology of chronic renal failure.
