Department of Internal Medicine, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, Netherlands
BIOGRAPHY
Nephrology Fellow, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands.M.D. and Ph.D., Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Research training and experience at the University of Toronto (Dr. Halperin), National Institutes of Health (Dr. Knepper), and Oregon Health and Science University (Dr. Ellison).
Our research interests include the clinical and basic aspects of fluid and electrolyte handling by the kidney.
Clinically, our main interest lies in the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of hyponatremia. In our lab work, we focus on the molecular physiology of renal water and salt transport in the disal nephron.
More specifically, we are interested how recently identified WNK kinases regulate salt transport in the kidney and contribute to hypertension.
