BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITIONS:
• Professor, Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology
• Director of the Neuroscience Research Institute

EDUCATION:
Dr Feinstein earned his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of California, Berkeley and his PhD from the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California School of Medicine, San Francisco. Subsequently, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurobiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine until 1986, at which time he joined the faculty at UCSB.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND AWARDS:
He has served as a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Cancer Research Co-ordinating Committee of California and the American Heart Association and is a former recipient of a University of California Junior Faculty Regents Award and the UCSB Distinguished Teaching Award.
