BIOGRAPHY
Ashok Venkitaraman learnt and practiced medicine in India, before completing his PhD at University College London in 1988. After post-doctoral work at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge (1988-91), he remained there as a faculty member until 1998. He now holds a joint appointment in the University of Cambridge Department of Oncology and the MRC Cancer Cell Unit. In his current research, Ashok seeks to understand the role of chromosomal instability in cancer predisposition. His lab works on the physiologic mechanisms that maintain the integrity of chromosome structure and number, and on how their disruption can contribute to carcinogenesis.EVALUATIONS
