David Cowburn - F1000 Faculty Member (since 08 March 2002)
Department of Biochemistry, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University, Bronx, NY, USA
BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Cowburn's research interests focus on the structural biology of protein domains in intracellular signal transduction, including SH2, SH3, SH(32) and PH domains, and how natural ligands interact with them. Signaling disorders related to these domain lead to many disease states, for example, chronic myologenous leukemia associated with the Abelson kinase. Other project areas include apotosis related products, myosin binding proteins, and other protein kinases. A second area of interest is the development of NMR and related methods for structural biology. Projects include segmental labeling, other novel isotopic labeling methods, and detection of protein-protein interaction surfaces and dynamics.
