Research interests:
He is currently a Principal Investigator in a 7-center study to evaluate the role of demographic, humoral and genetic factors in the progression of kidney disease and the development and progression of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease. He is the P.I. of an grant evaluating the specific role of pulse wave velocity in the renal and cardiovascular consequences of chronic kidney disease. He collaborates with Dr. Karen Teff (PhD) evaluating the role of the parasympathetic nervous system in insulin sensitivity, and the effects of glucose on novel humoral regulators of appetite and metabolism, including leptin, pancreatic polypeptide and gherelin. His clinical interests are in hypertension and metabolism.
