BIOGRAPHY

Charles Feldman is Professor of Pulmonology, Chief Physician and Head of the Pulmonology Division, University of the Witwatersrand.

His clinical research focuses on cytokine studies in severe community-acquired pneumonia, aspects of the pathogenesis of nosocomial pneumonia. He is also interested in the basic science of mechanisms of injury and protection of the human ciliated epithelium, and tuberculosis.

He is the President of the South African Pulmonology Society, Chairperson JHB Regional Branch of the Critical Care Society of South Africa and International Governor for South Africa for the AmericanCollege of Chest Physicians.
