Consultant in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Health Care, Head of Service, Contraception and Sexual Health, Newcastle Primary Care Trust, Newcastle upon Tyne, Honorary Lecturer, University of Newcastle (1997 to present day). Deputy Medical Director, Newcastle Primary Care Trust (2004 to present day). Northern Deanery Advisor, Contraception and Sexual Health (2000 to present day). Chair of the Society of Consultants and Lead Clinicians in Reproductive Health, UK (2004 to present day).
Deputy Medical Director/Senior Registrar/Lecturer in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Care, Margaret Pyke Family Planning Centre, London (1992-1995). First accredited subspecialty trainee in Community Gynaecology and Reproductive Health Care of RCOG.

Research interests include:
Acceptability of contraceptive methods, non-contraceptive benefits of contraception, development of long term methods of contraception, changes in health service provision, medical management of menorrhagia, menopause and hormone replacement therapy.
