RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Morphine handling and its respiratory effects in infants were initial studies looking at patients having cardiac surgery and then infants having other major surgeries. More recently, I've studied ketorolac a non-steriodal anti-inflammatory agent, in infants following major surgery. Now I'm beginning to study the use of acupuncture both for pain relief and more broadly its use for wellness following surgery or significant illness. Identifying which patients are most able to benefit from the use of acupuncture would be very useful since acupuncture treatments are quite labor intensive.
