Research interests: Dr Shear has conducted clinical trials in dermatology, from first in human early pharmacology studies to large randomized trials of novel therapeutics. His main interest is in idiosyncratic drug reactions that involve the skin.
Any other information: Dr Shear is a member of the prestigious American Dermatology Association and is the founding chair of CADRAC, the Canadian Adverse Drug Reaction Advisory Committee of Health Canada. Editorial responsibilities include being associate editor of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, deputy editor of journal 'Watch Dermatology' and he was the founding editor of the Canadian Journal of Clinical Pharmacology. He has published 200 peer reviewed papers and numerous chapters and abstracts. He was the recipient of the Canadian. Society for Clinical Pharmacology's distinguished Service Award.
