- Polymorphism in the Helicobacter pylori vacuolating cytotoxin: Interaction of the various forms with the human host (Medical Research Council)
- The interaction between Helicobacter pylori virulence factors in inflammation, ulceration and carcinogenesis in the human stomach (Cancer Research UK)
- Importance of variation and evolution of the Helicobacter pylori vacuolating cytotoxin in vivo. (CONACyT Foundation, Mexico)
- Establishment of Nottingham Centre for Prevention of Gastro-intestinal Cancer (with Watson/Hawkey/Scholefield/Logan). Prevention of gastric carcinogenesis (Digestive Disorders Foundation: Digestive Cancer Campaign).
