What is F1000Prime?

The core directory is updated daily and includes over 100,000 recommendations of the top published articles in biology and medicine.
Articles recommended by F1000Prime are selected, scored, and evaluated by our Faculty of more than 5,000 expert scientists and clinical researchers, assisted by 5,000 associates, who between them cover over 3,500 peer-reviewed journals.

Article Recommendations

- Article recommendations are collated by Faculty and Section (subspecialty), cross-indexed, and tagged – making them easy to search and browse.
- Faculty Members and their Associate Faculty Members select, evaluate and recommend the best articles they have read in their specialties.
- Evaluations are brief, accessible reviews, highlighting the key findings and putting the work into context, accompanied by star ratings.
Star ratings and rankings

- All articles on F1000Prime are recommended, but the Faculty Members rate them as either Good (
), Very Good (
), or Exceptional (

). - Combined star ratings from multiple recommendations of the same article are used to rank the articles within each Faculty.

- The highest-ranked articles are listed for all of biology and medicine, and for each of the Faculty subject areas. Categories include All Time and Current Top 10s, Hidden Jewels, as well as All Time and Current Most Viewed.
F1000Prime Reports

- Open access review journals publishing peer-reviewed reports on emerging themes in biology and medicine, putting the evaluated literature into context.
- F1000 Section Heads ensure coverage of the latest advances by selecting topics and nominating experts to provide context for the evaluated literature.
