ACADEMIC POSITION:Dr Heather Jaspan, MD, PhD, is a Senior Scientist at Seattle Biomed and a Senior Lecturer at University of Cape Town. She also holds an affiliate Associate Professorship at University of Washingtons Department of Global Health.
EDUCATION:
Heather initially completed her BS in Biology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, moving on to study for an MD/PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology at Tulane University, New Orleans, qualifying in 1999.

AztraZeneca Highly Commended Clinical Research Young Investigator Award, 2008
Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics
Past Co-Chair, Western Cape Paediatric HIV/TB Policy Advisory Group
Past Chair: South African AIDS Vaccine Initiative (SAAVI) Paediatric and Adolescent HIV Vaccine Working Group
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Heather's research interests include the prevention of HIV acquisition in children and adolescents and immunology thereof. Her research studies have been principally based in South Africa in recent years, with support from her institutions in the United States.
