ACADEMIC POSITION:The Marie B Gale Centennial Professorship in Psychiatry is held by Dr Karen Wagner, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
EDUCATION:
Dr Wagner received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended medical school at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr Wagner performed her residency in psychiatry with Harvard Medical School at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. She then completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry with Harvard Medical School at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts.
MEMBERSHIPS/AWARDS:
• Member of the National Institute of Mental Health Advisory Council
• Honorary doctorate (Doctor of Science) from the State University of New York in 2004 for her contributions to the field of child psychiatry
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Child and adolescent psychiatric disorders; psychotherapy; psychopharmacology.
