CURRENT POSITION:Marco Pennazio is in charge of the Small Bowel Disease Section of the Department of Internal Medicine at the S Giovanni AS University Teaching Hospital in Turin, Italy.
EDUCATION:
Dr Pennazio graduated from the Turin University School of Medicine.
AWARDS:
He has received the Arullani Award of the Italian Association for Hospital Gastroenterologists in 1995.
MEMBERSHIPS:
He is a member of the Societè Medicale d'Imagerie Enseignement et Rechèrche (SMIER), the Italian Association for Hospital Gastroenterologists (AIGO), the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), the Italian Society of Gastroenterology (SIGE) and he is Vice President of the European Club for the Study of Small Intestine Diseases (ECCSID).
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
He has published over 150 original articles and reviews in journals such as Gastroenterology, Journal of National Cancer Institute, Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Endoscopy, as well as several book chapters; he has been invited to give lectures and live demonstrations at several international conferences, including Digestive Disease Week (DDW) and United European Gastroenterology Week (UEGW).
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
He focuses his research on the clinical applications of small-bowel endoscopy, especially in managing patients with obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and with precancerous conditions of the small bowel.
