BIOGRAPHY

CURRENT POSITION:
Dr Joannidis is Professor in Medicine (Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine) serving as director of the Medical Intensive Care and Emergency Unit, Department of Internal Medicine, Medical University Innsbruck, Austria.

TRAINING:
He is a certified specialist in Critical Care Medicine, Cardiology and Nephrology.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Currently he serves as chairman of the section Acute Kidney Injury of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and associate editor of Intensive Care Medicine.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
His research interests cover several topics of Critical Care Medicine with a major focus on acute kidney injury and renal tubular epithelial pathophysiology.
