Since 21 Aug 2003, Ruedi Aebersold has served as a Faculty Member in the Genomics Section of the Genomics & Genetics Faculty. On 24 March 2015, Ruedi was appointed as a Section Head for the Genomics Section in the Genomics & Genetics Faculty.

Professor Aebersold and his team focus their research is on the development and the application of new proteomics technologies. These technologies aim at detecting and quantifying the proteins and their interactions at the level of the complete proteome. Specific applications of the technology are directed towards the understanding of biological processes and the detection and validation of protein biomarkers for the early detection, diagnosis and classification of disease.
In the role of Section Head, Ruedi Aebersold oversees the Genomics Section in the Genomics & Genetics Faculty, including advising on the division of the Section into topics and the selection of suitable Faculty Members who actively review the literature in each of the topic areas.
The Faculty comprises Heads of Faculty, Heads of Section, Faculty Members and Associate Faculty Members, as well as an International Advisory Board.
