RESEARCH INTERESTS:
The major objective of Dr Huxley's laboratory is to understand solute, water and gas transfer between circulating blood and metabolizing tissue. Knowledge of the barriers to transport in live tissue is required to clarify the processes underlying the development of dysfunctional states such as edema or shock. With that knowledge, strategies can be designed to treat pathologies with the goals of first, abating; second, arresting; and third, reversing the disease process.
