Wilbert S Aronow, MD is currently Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Cardiology, Geriatrics, and Pulmonary/Critical Medicine at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. He is also Chief of the Cardiology Clinic, Senior Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program, Senior Associate Program Director and Research Mentor for the Residency and Fellowship Programs in the Department of Medicine, and Senior Associate Director of the Center for Educational Innovations Project Quality Research at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College.
Dr Aronow is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association, the American College of Physicians, the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Geriatrics Society (Founding Fellow of Western Section), the Gerontological Society of America, and the New York Cardiological Society.
PUBLISHING AND EDITORIAL ACTIVITIES:
Dr Aronow has edited 12 books and is author or coauthor of more than 1350 papers and of more than 1160 commentaries, Letters to the Editor, and abstracts. He has been a member of 91 editorial boards of medical journals, co-editor of 2 journals, deputy editor of 1 journal, executive editor of 3 journals, an associate editor for 9 journals, and a guest editor for 7 other journals.
HONORS AND AWARDS:
He has received each year from 2001-2013 an outstanding teacher and researcher award from the medical residents and also from the cardiology fellows at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. He was awarded a Distinguished Fellowship Award from the International Academy of Cardiology at the 17th World Congress on Heart Disease in July, 2012. He has received awards from the Society of Geriatric Cardiology, the Gerontological Society of America, New York Medical College, and the Walter Bleifeld Memorial Award for distinguished contributions to clinical research from the International Academy of Cardiology at the 15th World Congress on Heart Disease in July, 2010. In addition, he was awarded the F1000 Faculty Member of the Year for Cardiovascular Disorders in 2011 and in 2013.
In the role of Faculty Member, Wilbert Aronow contributes recommendations and reviews to the Geriatric Cardiology Section in the Cardiovascular Disorders Faculty, writing brief accessible comments to summarize the value of the articles and adding rating score.
The Faculty comprises Heads of Faculty, Heads of Section, Faculty Members and Associate Faculty Members, as well as an International Advisory Board.
