ACADEMIC POSITION:• Professor of Clinical Microbiology
• Director, Infectious Diseases Unit
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Shapiro's research is focused on the epidemiology of hospital acquired infection. Particular areas of interest are the spread of resistant organisms, antibiotic use and its relation to the emergence of resistant bacteria and infections in the immuno-compromised host.
