Herve Sentenac
Biochimie et Physiologie Moléculaire des Plantes, INRA, Montpellier, cedex 2, France F1000 Faculty Member (since 21 July 2006)BIOGRAPHY
ACADEMIC POSITION:Principal Investigator: 'Ion Channels' Team, B&PMP (Biochemistry and Plant Molecular Physiology), Montpellier, France
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
The Ion Channels group is aimed at understanding which function those different transport system have in the integrated plant physiology. Four sets of experimental approaches are combined for this:
(1) Study of spatial and temporal expression pattern of genes (Northern, (q)RT-PCR, GUS, HIS) and sub-cellular localisation of the encoded proteins (cell imaging, GFP tagging).
(2) Analysis of functional features (molecular electrophysiology) essentially in heterologous expression systems (Xenopus oocytes, COS cells, Tobacco or Arabidopsis protoplasts...).
(3) Reverse genetics (KO mutants, dominant negative mutants, over-expression...).
(4) Search for partner proteins (double-hybrid, co-purification...) responsible for post-translational modifications of transport systems resulting in changes in transport activity.
