ACADEMIC POSITION:
• Adjunct Professor, Department of Surgical Science, Uppsala University

INDUSTRY POSITION:
• Senior Principal Scientist, Analgesia, AstraZeneca R&D, Södertälje

EDITORIAL ACTIVITIES:
Dr Berge has published about 70 original papers in peer-reviewed international journals and some 20 reviews, proceedings and book chapters and he is a member of the Advisory Board of the Scandinavian Journal of Pain.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Dr Berge has a primary interest in novel approaches to pharmacological control of chronic pain, particularly novel targets and pathways but also innovative delivery systems. Related to this is a keen interest in understanding reliability and predictive validity of animal models and engagement in improving experimental methods and reporting in the area of preclinical pain and analgesia research. Translation between clinical pain conditions and animal models is another related area of interest.
