Antony Carr
Genome Damage and Stability Centre, University of Sussex, Brighton, Sussex, UK F1000 Faculty Member (since 26 July 2001)BIOGRAPHY
ACADEMIC POSITION:Director, Genome Damage and Stability Centre
BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION:
I studied for my BSc at Norwich University, graduating in Biological Sciences in 1981. I subsequently studied under Paul Nurse for my DPhil for which I was registered at the University of Sussex. The subject of my thesis was 'The Analysis and Function of the cdc2 Gene Region in Fission Yeast'. Over the following years I developed my interest in the checkpoint pathways that respond to DNA damage and replication delays while working on DNA repair at the MRC Cell Mutation Unit, Sussex University.

Journal of Cell Science: Editorial board member 2004-
Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB). Editor 2007-
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My laboratory currently studies the genetics and biochemistry of checkpoint pathways in fission yeast. We are interested in the mechanisms by which checkpoints respond to DNA damage and how these pathways interact with aspects of DNA repair and replication. My laboratory is now part of the Centre for Genome Damage and Stability which is based at Sussex University and funded by the Medical Research Council.
