BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITION:

EDUCATION:
Dr Steiner studied at the Faculty of Science, Biochemistry University of Vienna. After successfully completing his studies he carried out his PhD thesis at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry and received his doctorate in July 1986 for Doctor of Science. After that he worked until 1989 as a postdoc at the 2nd University Hospital of the University of Vienna. In 1989 he became a laboratory manager at the branch of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Rheumatology at the 2nd MD Dept of KH Lainz. In 1995 he returned to the University of Vienna.

AWARDS:
State Prize for Rheumatology of the Bumi WiFo in 1997

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
This is mainly working with blood cells from patients with rheumatic diseases, and animal studies.
