Morena Caira is an Associate Faculty Member who works with Faculty Member Livio Pagano to recommend the scientific literature in their field.
EDUCATION:Morena Caira received the medical degree (summa cum laude) from the Catholic University in Rome (Italy) in 2003, followed by further training as a specialist in Hematology in 2008. She is now completing her PhD degree in Technological Applications in Onco-Hematology at the Catholic University.
PUBLISHING ACTIVITY:
She has authored more than 100 publications, including articles on peer-reviewed journals, abstracts at national and international congresses, and book chapters. She serves on the editorial board of Case Reports in Infectious Diseases, and she is a reviewer for several journals, including Medical Mycology, Epidemiology and Infections, International Journal of Medicine and Medical Science, Journal of Neurological Sciences, Biologics: Targets and therapy.

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Her major research interests include the epidemiology, diagnosis and treatment of infectious complications in the immunocompromised host, particularly invasive fungal diseases and bloodstream infections, as well as conduct of clinical research studies.
She has been involved in numerous multicenter projects, assessing the epidemiology of infections in hematological patients in Italy. She has been co-investigator for many national and international clinical trials on antifungal drugs.
