Michaela Niessen studied Biological Sciences at the University of Cologne and is currently working in the lab of Prof Carien Niessen.
In her PhD project, she investigates how polarity processes control morphogenesis and homeostasis of the mammalian skin. Specifically, she is interested in the role of the Par-polarity proteins in the establishment/maintenance of skin polarity, on stem cell maintenance and on barrier formation.
