Joana Figueiredo is an Associate Faculty Member who works with Faculty Member Andrew Baird to recommend the scientific literature in their field.
ACADEMIC POSITION:Postdoctoral Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, James Cook University, Australia
EDUCATION:
PhD in Marine Biology and Aquaculture at University of Lisbon, Portugal
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
I am an experimental marine invertebrate biologist. I have been using a combination of empirical studies and mathematical modeling to study the early life history of marine invertebrates species and population dynamics. Currently I am working with Dr Andrew Baird and Prof Sean Connolly to study the impact of climate change on coral larval development and its implications for dispersal and metapopulation persistence. This study will be essential to design effective marine reserve networks throughout the Great Barrier Reef.
