RESEARCH INTERESTS:
My primary interest is the exploration of asthma through the use of animal and cellular models. The effects of asthma-related cytokines such as interleukin-13 on airway smooth muscle intracellular signaling mechanisms of pertinence to contraction and contractile phenotype are being studied. The mechanisms of airway remodeling, the structural changes identified in asthmatic airways, are being investigated. In particular, the role of the epidermal growth factor receptor and the direct effect of T lymphocyte interaction with smooth muscle are being explored.
