Jay Menitove

BIOGRAPHY

Jay E. Menitove, M.D. is the Executive Director and Medical Director of the Community Blood Center and has served in this leadership role since 1997. He is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and the Clinical Professor of Pathology at the Kansas University School of Medicine. He received his M.D. at New York University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine training at Baltimore City Hospitals and Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was a hematology fellow at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland and completed a blood banking fellowship at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Blood Banking.

Dr. Menitove serves on the Protocol Review Committee for the Transfusion Medicine/Hemostasis Clinical Research Network (NIH). He is the President-elect of AABB. He chaired the Blood Banks and Transfusion Services Standards Program Unit that produced the 18th and 19th editions of AABB Standards.
