BIOGRAPHY

ACADEMIC POSITION:
Professor, Department of Genetics, Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis

EDUCATION:
• Post-doctoral fellow with Dr Judith Kimble at the University of Wisconsin
• PhD University of Wisconsin, working in the laboratory of Dr WF Dove
• BA Chemistry and Biology, Lawrence University, Appleton, Wisconsin

RESEARCH INTERESTS:
The Schedl lab studies germline development of the soil nematode C. elegans.

Dr Schedl is the discoverer of the first known tumor suppressor gene in C. elegans (gld-1) and is currently investigating the molecular mechanisms which control germline development and meiosis.
